When the Older People’s Strategic Board met in January we reviewed the findings of the ‘Newcastle – an age-friendly city’ workshop.  In considering the next steps in this work, the board agreed to explore the potential for a geographical pilot with key partners.  Initial discussions are now taking place and the proposal will be discussed with Newcastle City Council’s Neighbourhood Board at its February meeting.

At the meeting the board also received a presentation from Peter Fletcher Associates on the ‘Older People’s Housing Impact Assessment’.  Following a thought-provoking discussion, the board agreed to support the recommendations from this work and requested regular updates on progress.

Board members were informed of two important events taking place in the city – the 'Coming of Age' programme at the Great North Museum (12 January – 2 March) and the ‘Better Than a Pill' exhibition at City Library (3 – 16 February).
