What we do together?

We provide strategic leadership to ensure that adults in Newcastle have a healthy lifestyle and avoid risky behaviours in order to prevent ill-health and promote wellbeing.

We work to understand issues in relation to adult lifestyle in Newcastle and prioritise where developments need to be made.  We are working to ensure a cohesive approach to addressing issues that are necessary to the success of work with regards to all individual lifestyle behaviours.  Examples include prioritising those communities of geography, interest or identity that experience health inequalities; workforce development; health literacy; social marketing; community engagement.

For further information on our role, please see our Terms of Reference.

The groups that help us

We share our Delivery Group arrangements with the Childrens Trust's Be Healthy Partnership as the groups work across all age ranges.  The Delivery Groups are:

  • Smoke Free Newcastle - which plans and delivers Newcastle's Tobacco Control Strategy
  • Active Newcastle Partnership - which focusses on helping people in getting active
  • Sexual Health group - which leads on interventions to promote safe sex
  • Eat Well Newcastle - which has responsibilities around food, nutrition and the availability of healthy food
